Act the Way

My broken heart is stained from sin.
“Lord, why’d you leave again?
Yes, I strayed from the godly way
You command everyday.

Perhaps there’s fruit when I obey
But, heart, what do you say?
Can you cleanse me of binding sin,
So I’m free once again?

This anger’s a prison of sin,
Back again and again.”
“‘No, I can’t,’ my bitter heart says.
‘Just the Lord works this way.'”

From the depths of defeat, I say,
“Lord, I can’t live this way.”
God reaches down and takes my sin.
I sing to Him again.

“Thank you, God! You forgave my sin!
Now, I have peace again!
Lord, there’s so much I want to say!
“Say nothing, act the way.”
