Shepherds in the Fields

Shepherds in the fields watched their flocks by night
When an angel shone in glorious light.
The shepherds were awed and greatly afraid.
But the angel consoled them: “Please. Be brave.
I bring you tidings of the greatest joy.
Born this day is the Christ, God’s Savior-Boy.
You will find this Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths,
For He’s come to save those who are lost.”
With the angel came a heavenly host,
Singing, “Glory to God and love Him the most!”
