The Good Shepherd

My children listen to my voice
Even when they make too much noise.
Perhaps, it still takes much repeating,
And there can be excessive bleating,
But in the end, they obey
When I persist in what I say.

Their obedience is rooted in love.
For even my baby Caleb
Knows I love him:
That when he cries I’ll hold him.
In the same way, the Lord knows who is His
That we know what the sound of His loving voice is.

The Good Shepherd calls His wandering sheep
Laying down His life ‘cause His love’s so deep.
So if you listen close and learn about Him,
You, too, can find the one who saves us from sin.
