Fighting Sleep

Caleb cries and cries;
He doesn’t want to sleep,
As if to say it’s not his time
For the Lord his soul to keep.
But I want to tell him once he wakes
I’ll take
Him back to the waking world.
But in the end, he knows not my words
And cries and cries in infancy,
Perhaps, like you and me
When we whine like this
Though the Lord promises
That death isn’t all there is.
