So Small

I’m so small,
God of all,
That you can see
The inner parts of me
That are ugly.
Again and again,
I sin
And turn like a worm
So I can unlearn
How horrid
My heart is–
What an evil wish this is!

Why can’t I embrace the Truth
And really love You
And live out in faith what You did for me
On the cross at Calvary?
Left alone,
I’m a sack of skin filled with dead bones
Please! I plead. Pick me up
And take me home!
Only you can change my heart from stone.

Redeem the wicked parts of me
That no one else but I can see.
